Steamworks rebuilds its achievement editor
The new editor adds CSV bulk import and export, achievement sets and auto-generated locked icons, and it works for games that have already shipped. It also flags achievements with missing translations.

Valve has rebuilt the Steam achievement tools in Steamworks. The update, announced on 15 October, arrived alongside player-facing changes to how achievements appear on Steam, and the developer tools work for both upcoming and already released games.
The centrepiece is a new achievement editor. It supports bulk import and export of achievement definitions, set assignments, icons and localisation using CSV and image files, plus a bulk move tool for shifting many achievements between sets at once. When you upload an icon, Steam can generate the grey "locked" version for you, though you can still upload your own. The editor also flags any achievement or set that is missing text in one of your game's languages.
Achievements can now be grouped into sets, and Valve says you can archive old achievements that can no longer be earned. Developer-only sets are visible only to your team, which helps with testing before anything goes public.
Why it matters: achievements are a small part of a store page but a big chore to manage at scale, especially across many languages. Bulk CSV editing and automatic locked icons remove a lot of manual work, and archiving gives live games a clean way to retire achievements that no longer make sense.
