Epic opens a free UEFN bootcamp ahead of UE6
A free online course in UEFN and Verse for games professionals, tied to Unreal Engine 6's merger of Unreal and UEFN. Applications close on 6 November.

Epic Games has opened applications for a free UEFN Professional Bootcamp. It's aimed at people with at least three years in games development, art or teaching. Epic announced it on 14 October and ties it straight to Unreal Engine 6. The UE6 roadmap brings Unreal Engine and UEFN, Unreal Editor for Fortnite, together into one engine, with Verse at the core of its future programming model.
The bootcamp is online. Training runs over five days, from 30 November to 4 December. Each day has three hours of guided learning from 10am to 1pm, in either Eastern Time or Central European time. Then you get two weeks to build your own Fortnite island, with hands-on labs from 7 to 18 December. Islands must be published by 4 January, and Epic will showcase the best work on 15 January.
Epic says the course covers UEFN workflows, gameplay programming in Verse and using player metrics such as retention and playtime. It also includes career sessions and industry briefs. Epic says its previous bootcamp produced 328 published UEFN islands.
Applications close on 6 November 2026.
Why it matters: If you work in Unreal, Verse and UEFN look like the direction of travel. This is a free, guided way to learn them, and you finish with a playable island in your portfolio.
