Construct 3 r506 brings 3D lighting to the stable release
The first stable release since r495.2 adds a 3D light object, 3D model animation blending, FBX and OBJ import, and experimental Steam Overlay support for Windows WebView2 exports.

Construct 3 has a new stable release, r506, published on 14 October. If you're coming from the previous stable release, r495.2, it rolls up everything from r496 to r505. The Construct team also points out that Construct has now passed 500 releases.
The big addition is 3D lighting. A new 3D light object works together with new material properties on objects and the layout ambient light property. 3D models get a long list of updates as well: animation blending, FBX and OBJ import, alpha testing, changing bones and meshes at runtime, using objects as textures, and a reworked import process.
Outside 3D, layer changes can now be applied across a whole project, with replicate layer and batch rename. There is also new, experimental support for the Steam Overlay in Windows WebView2 exports. A new demo game, Arcane Express, ships alongside six other new examples.
One removal is worth checking before you update. Support for the legacy Normalized Z axis scale is gone, and so is the 3D Camera's Z axis scale property, which only applied in that mode. The team says a new beta cycle will start soon. To get those builds, choose to be notified about beta releases in Settings.
Why it matters: Construct's 3D support has been growing release by release, and lighting plus FBX import makes simple 3D scenes much more practical. If a project still uses Normalized mode, test it on a copy before switching to r506.
