How GameDex helps

GameDex is the go-to place for all game development tools. Three steps take you from a blank page to a shortlist.

1. Discover

Browse by category or by the engine you use. The directory covers engines, engine plugins and integrations, 2D art and tilemaps, 3D, audio, animation, version control, networking, dialogue, code libraries, profiling and more.

In GameDex: Start with Game Engines (16), Audio (6) or Networking (8), or search by name.

2. Compare

Every listing shows pricing as stated on the official site, the licence, which engines it works with and, for open-source tools, GitHub stars and the last commit, so you can see how active a project is.

In GameDex: Filter by open source, freemium or paid tools, or limit results to tools with a recent commit.

3. Pick

Use the alternatives on each tool page, the engine pages and the stale or archived warnings to shortlist options, then follow the link to the official site to download or buy.

In GameDex: See the pages for Unity, Unreal and Godot, or open the engines hub.
