Take-Two: Game streaming is a big opportunity for us
Take-Two says it is closely watching the game streaming services proposed by Microsoft and Google.
The Red Dead Redemption 2 publisher believes that a low-latency game streaming service will be delivered, but says the only missing element is a business model that works with the way the firm wants to operate.
“Any technologies that bring us closer to more consumers in a seamless way is a good thing,” CEO Strauss Zelnick tells Gamesindustry.biz.
“We’ve always said we embrace new distribution technology. We’ve been one of the first companies to support new services. I have no doubt that we will support new services going forward, as long as the business models comport with the way we want to address consumers.
“There are two elements here. There are streaming technologies, which are yet to deliver a low-latency experience for a lot of consumers simultaneously – but which we believe will, to be clear.
“Then there are the business models that will overlay those technologies. And we will want to make sure they are consistent with the way we want to distribute our products. But, no matter how you want to slice it, there is a big opportunity for us.”
In the last month, Google has launched a closed beta for its Project Stream while Microsoft has detailed plans for Project xCloud.
